MANUFACTURING

Process

The manufacturing process is guided by a clear ISO 9001:2015 certificated procedure structure and controlled via an all encompassing ERP system to provide part and material traceability.

Controlled, well developed procedures and experienced staff are key to be able to produce complex parts in the very short lead times as ordinarily required by our customers.The initial production of each new part to us will proceed on a ‘1 off’ prototype basis undertaking the full manufacturing procedure in order to fully prove out the process prior to running the full batch quantity required.

STEP 1

SALES DEPARTMENT

Quotation creation based on customer-supplied 3D cad model data and 2D drawing.
Production schedule planned and Sales Order raised on receipt of PO.
Issue of programming request if a new job or if a repeat job then a material cutting request is generated.

STEP 2

PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT

Data import and manipulation.
Material identification.
Development of machining strategies
Program verification
Issue of Material Cutting request to pre-production.

STEP 3

PRE-PRODUCTION

The material is selected and cut as required.
Oven drying cycle subject to material type.
Batch No. recorded to ERP system.
Works Order generated and queued in date order ready for machining

STEP 4

MACHINE SHOP

Program accessed via a network and verified at machine prior to NC file creation.
Tooling and work holding set.
With a new program, only one part will be machined in order to prove the program before running a batch.
ERP updated and parts forwarded to Post-Production.

STEP 5

POST-PRODUCTION

Hand fettling and trimming to drawing.
ERP updated.
Queued for inspection in date required order.

STEP 6

INSPECTION

Parts are inspected to cad model data and 2D drawing using touch probe or laser scanning techniques.
ERP system updated.
Labels printed, bagged and forwarded to Packing & dispatch.

STEP 7

PACKING & DISPATCH DEPARTMENT

Parts are booked from stock to delivery note and protectively packed.
Rohacell parts are bagged with vapour barrier foil and labelled.
Parts shipped and ERP updated.
